Virtual November Birthday Party for Women's Rights Leader Elizabeth Cady Stanton

Because online video and animation is an effective way to get the attention of students, a virtual birthday party for women’s rights leader Elizabeth Cady Stanton celebrates this extraordinary woman who changed history.

A virtual birthday party produced by Suffrage Wagon News Channel is designed for the use of individuals, families, teachers, and students as an introduction to Elizabeth Cady Stanton in Seneca Falls, New York. Cady Stanton, with others, launched the Seneca Falls convention in 1848. The convention sparked a social revolution that eventually resulted in the passage of the 19th amendment to the U.S. Constitution in 1920 which enabled American women to vote.

The virtual birthday party consists of a general happy birthday greeting, the baking of a cake from a recipe from a vintage suffrage cook book, music played by the great great grandchildren of American suffragist Edna Kearns, links to books about Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and a link to the documentary by award-winning filmmaker Ken Burns, “Not for Ourselves Alone.”
